In Honor of My Mom’s 77th Birthday: Golden Nuggets of Wisdom
Today would have been my mom’s 77th birthday, and in her honor, I want to share a few of her golden nuggets that reflect her love and wisdom.
Golden Nugget #1
If you had the opportunity to enjoy my mom’s potato salad, pecan bars, lemon bars, fried chicken, or greens—basically anything she made from scratch—you experienced her love. Her passion for cooking was a heartfelt expression of her affection for people. Each dish was crafted with care, serving as a reminder that love can be communicated through food.
Golden Nugget #2
I often remind myself of this gem when my kids don’t follow my verbal directions. My mom would frequently say that children do not come into this world knowing everything; it’s our responsibility to teach them. Simply telling my kids something doesn’t guarantee they understand. It’s essential to take the time to instruct, guide, correct, and allow them to ask questions. And always remember to ask them, “Do you understand?”
Golden Nugget #3
During her battle with cancer, my mom shared an important message: “If I could tell people anything, it would be to take care of your health.” This wisdom resonates deeply with me and is a driving force behind Chris and me stepping out on faith with this blog. We have learned so much from our moms’ journeys with cancer, our own health experiences, and the knowledge surrounding healthy living.
One last thought: I miss my mom’s presence in this world, but I find comfort in knowing she is free from the pain of cancer.
Remember to hold onto the golden nuggets shared by the special people in your life. Their wisdom can guide you through the challenges of life and inspire you to live fully.
