The Birthing of the Power of the Overflow

The Power of the Overflow was born after the sudden passing of my uncle on March 3rd, 2018. He was also the spiritual father and the senior pastor of our church.

My husband and I were at a basketball tournament for my oldest son and got news that my uncle was in the hospital. We were asked to pray. We decided we should head back home because Pastor B never went to the hospital. As we were traveling back, we received the devastating news that he had passed away. We were both in disbelief. It was a shock to us because he had been a major pillar in our lives.

We finally made it home, exhausted and mentally drained from the news. As I started getting ready for bed, I went into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror reflecting on the day. I was asking why Pastor B had to leave us. While looking in the mirror, I noticed the counter and all of my bathroom essentials—and the following phrase dropped in my spirit: The Power of the Overflow.

Even though Pastor B is not present in the natural, his teachings and standard of living are a part of our daily lives. The knowledge, understanding, and wisdom that he shared about health and wellness overflowed into my life, my husband’s life, and the lives of our children. It also flows into our day-to-day encounters and relationships; hence, The Power of the Overflow.

The Power of the Overflow is a space to share the knowledge and understanding that my husband and I have regarding our mind, body, and spirit from our life experiences. Even though we are not able to physically see my uncle, the overflow of his knowledge and wisdom about living a holistic, healthy life is still pouring into those he touched.
